Tag World Roots
A downloadable game for Windows
Game Summary
Play as a bird who raises children to level up skills, socialize, and ultimately compete in a tournament.
In Tag World, Bird-in-Trainings act as teachers and mentors to kids that are visiting from outside of this World. Your goal is to become a successful Bird-in-Training and earn enough skills to become the Master Bird!
This game plays like a simulation game where you run activities, form social relationships with the students, and navigate a daily schedule full of random events.
Development Information
This simulation visual novel game was developed in RPG Maker MZ.
We created this for the Global Game Jam 2023. The entire game and all of its artwork were created in a single weekend by Steve Rakar and Michelle Rakar.
The theme this year was "Roots", so we went with a game about Tag World, including the origins and tree-like structures that are built throughout this World.

Hi Eevee, I definitely feel your style and experiences coming through in this game. The cast is adorable, being grounded in archetypes of students while being out there enough to be something all their own. I did have a small issue with perks disappearing from the tree, but that may be caused by the WINE layer I’m running this on so idk. Best on luck on the game jam ratings!
Thank you so much, Ethan! I'm so glad their personalities all came through! And thanks for letting me know about the Perk Tree bug that you ran into. Do you remember which perk you clicked when they disappeared? I'll look into that and see if I can recreate it so I can push an update to fix that!
